Are heat pump systems worth it?

Due to long-term cost savings and current state rebates, upgrading or augmenting your current heating or cooling systems with heat pump units is a worthwhile investment.

Do heat pump units heat and cool?

Instead of burning fossil fuels to produce heat, like a furnace or a boiler, heat pumps transfer the heat into the room inside through a unit on the outside of the building. The heat pump extracts heat from outdoors to make it warmer in the winter, and in the summer reverses to pump heat out, cooling the air inside. This process of exchanging heat wastes much less energy than generating it.

What size heat pump do I need?

The number of outdoor compressors and indoor air-handling units depends on how much cooling is required for the whole building and for each zone. Factors including how well the building is insulated and air sealed and whether the system is augmenting an existing service or working on its own can affect the calculation.
